Draymond Green takes plea deal in assault case

On Thursday, Green appeared via FaceTime for a court proceeding in East Lansing.

The arrest came at a time when Green’s on-court behavior is under scrutiny.

The only reason Green didn’t fight the charge and demand a jury trial is because of his work schedule, said James Heos, Green’s attorney.

Under the agreement, Green’s charges were reduced to a noise violation, according to the report.

Green posted a $200 bond and was released from custody. He will now have to schedule another pretrial conference and then attend mandatory jury selection.

The Warriors’ star power forward was named to the United States basketball team for the 2016 Olympic Games. Putting these issues behind him, no matter how unlikely they were to ever be much of a big deal, will be key. “Leave it in their hands and I got an opportunity to compete for a gold medal”.

The NBA is already on notice – Green is the kind of guy that you can rattle by egging him on and possibly get an unwanted technical out of one of our franchise players.

“I signed up for this, whether it was blown out of proportion or not”, Green said.

MSU cornerback Jermaine Edmondson told police that he had been “choked” the previous night by two men who were with the National Basketball Association player at a bar, and Green punched him when he tried to talk to him on that Sunday. Green is accused of slapping Edmondson. Edmondson told police he did not have any injuries and he declined medical attention. Hey, I’m not afraid to take the blame.

A fine of (roughly) $560 is nearly literally nothing to Green, who signed a five-year, $82 million deal last season.

After the arrest, Green submitted to a preliminary breath test. He recorded 38 tackles, three pass break-ups and three fumble recoveries in 38 career games.
