Dream debut for Islam Slimani as Leicester beat Burnley
Despite Sean Dyche’s substitutions, Burnley couldn’t get a foothold in the game and a Ben Mee own-goal on 78 minutes, coming after he deflected a Mahrez cross past Tom Heaton, concluded the scoring.

The 28 million pounds ($36.4 million, 32.6 million euros) signing from Sporting Lisbon scored headers either side of half-time before Ben Mee’s own goal completed a comprehensive win.
Premier League champions, Leicester City, will on Saturday (today) do battle against Burnley in an attempt to put their Premier League campaign on a solid pedestal this season.
The Foxes were comfortable with goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, in for Kasper Schmeichel who was out with concussion, untroubled.
45+1′ – GOAL! Islam Slimani (Leicester City 1-0 Burnley) Fuchs delivers a free-kick from the left flank and Slimani rises highest to power a head home from close range.
But the hosts were soon back on the attack with a delicate cross by Christian Fuchs finding the head of Vardy, who glanced an effort just wide.
The first fell to Burnley as Boyd’s cross was headed back to the edge of the six-yard box by Scott Arfield, but Steven Defour headed straight at Zieler. Adding more goals to the side and becoming less reliant on Vardy and Mahrez will be crucial to Leicester’s chances of competing on two fronts this season, and so far Slimani looks like a man who fits the bill.
And the Algerian then failed narrowly to make connection with an Albrighton cross, but he made no mistake as he opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time.
The second, just over two minutes into the second half, had a stroke of luck about it but the Foxes found their way into the Clarets area a little too easily all the same.
Leicester are now unbeaten in their last ten matches against Burnley.
The third goal that Leicester had been threatening arrived with 12 minutes to go, Mahrez gliding past Ward as if he wasn’t there and sending in a low cross which Mee could only poke past Heaton as he stretched to intercept.
