Drew Brees: Brees (shoulder) expected to play on Sunday
The New Orleans Saints freed up salary cap space on Wednesday after quarterback Drew Brees agreed to turn a portion of his 2015 base salary into a signing bonus.

The New Orleans Saints finally have a few good news.
The unbeaten Panthers are off to their best start since 2003, the year the franchise went to its only Super Bowl, following a 27-22 win over New Orleans on Sunday.
It was reported Wednesday morning that the team restructured the contract of quarterback Drew Brees, saving .6 million against the cap this season.
Prior to the move, it’s estimated the Saints were between $1.3 to $2 million under the cap. Since 2006, when he was coming off a torn rotator cuff and accepted the daunting task of reviving a team and a city ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, Brees played like the future Hall of Famer he is.
Brees said the idea was to start the week slow and gradually build up the volume and difficulty of passes. But according to Brees himself, who is dealing with a shoulder injury, there’s no way he’s not suiting up Sunday night.
The hard part is that Brees has done so much for the city of New Orleans, especially after Hurricane Katrina. “We just finished talking about it. It’s up to each player to get up and be ready to play and execute the scheme”. Out of shotgun on first down, Newton rolled to his right to buy time looking for tight end Greg Olsen down the field. The Cowboys, meanwhile, will be without Tony Romo (broken collarbone) for at least another five games, and will have to rely instead on Brandon Weeden, who has lost nine straight starts dating back to December 2012 and has more career interceptions (29) than touchdowns (27).
However, there are reasons to be optimistic that Cooks will turn things around in Week 4. When you have some injuries, you have some (injured reserves), you know it’s creating some wiggle room.

What team was briefly named the Bay State Patriots? Might I suggest that playing professional football might be one of those professions that requires a longer healing process than an insurance agent who simply types on a computer and talks on the phone all day? The Saints brought him in for a reason, which is to make Super Bowl champion like plays.
