Drew Brees can’t find answer to revamped Giants defense
New Orleans recovered the ball.

Despite amassing 417 yards of offense against New Orleans – including 353 through the air – the Giants failed to score an offensive touchdown.
Life in the National Football League can be cruel, especially if you’re the Saints. In the first quarter, McAdoo left the offense on the field on 4th and 2 at the New Orleans 3-yard line instead of taking a sure field goal and the Giants couldn’t convert.
McAdoo was pleased with much of what the offense accomplished, notably the 64 combined rushing attempts and pass completions, Eli Manning’s 78 percent completion percentage, and a time of possession of more than 34 minutes. He caught the game-winning pass last week against the Dallas Cowboys.
Jenkins, who signed a five-year, $62.5 million deal with $29 million guaranteed with the Giants this offseason, had a major impact in Sunday’s 16-13 win over the Saints.
The injury to Williams leaves the Saints without both of their starting cornerbacks. But, the Saints converted more salary to bonus money and also guaranteed his 2016 salary to show the commitment, except they weren’t committed. Having to watch Steve Spagnuolo out-coach Sean Payton was like pouring a gallon of Tabasco into an open wound. Defensive end Paul Kruger fell on the ball which came on a sack. That was baffling to say the least, and by baffling, I mean I may have thrown my Saints hat at the TV multiple times.
Seemingly, these Saints have been subject to paradoxical results.
The Saints had chances, but they did not capitalize.
Now, only Peyton Manning (71,940) and Brett Favre (71,838) are ahead of Brees on the list, who stands at 61,589 yards for his career. I know it’s still early in the season but you can’t argue what they have been able to carry out.
But even without Williams, the Saints defense held their own. “We challenged everything they did in the run game and the pass game”.
Let’s not be mistaken, there was a sense of encouragement gained by Dennis Allen’s defense on Sunday. He put his talents on display Sunday finishing with 9 tackles, 1 for loss, and forced a fumble. The pass-rush isn’t getting the job done, either.
Whenever you read “Saints had a decent/good pass rush” it means Cam Jordan had a great game.
Landon Collins – Had a sack blitzing off the edge and six tackles. “(Williams) will be en route back today”. No team can withstand losing it’s top 5 corners, especially the Saints.
If the preseason hype wasn’t enough, it looks as though the passing game is going to be a huge bright spot for the Giants this season.
Stephone Anthony- Last year’s first-round pick just saw four defensive and seven special teams snaps on the day. Vereen then lost a pair of yards on a run which led to the Saints calling their first timeout.

The Saints weren’t able to capitalize on the Giants’ miscues, though they came close to doing so after driving to the 20-yard line following the turnover by Manning. We are into year 3 of the Saints being nearly, kind of, maybe, possibly, but never really seriously a contender to do anything meaningful in 2016.
