It has been confirmed that the Arctic trip, a first for a sitting American president, will coincide with Obama’s appearance on Running Wild With Bear Grylls.

As you may have heard, POTUS is covering new presidential ground by agreeing to appear alongside the celebrity survivalist on NBC’s “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” later this Fall. The NBC show airs locally on WDSU.

President Barack Obama, the United States’ first social media president, has taken the selfie to whole new heights. NBC and the White House said Monday, August 31, 2015, the president will meet with Grylls during his visit to Alaska to discuss climate change, then spend some time in the wilderness.

Venturing into the Alaskan wilderness is no joke and that is why Obama will join the hardy adventurer and television presenter to receive a three-day crash course in survival techniques.

While in Alaska, the president has hiked trails, marveled at glaciers and made an important point about global warming.
