Drive for Android adds sharing notifications, access to shared files without a

The new version of Google Drive includes mobile notifications that will hit your device immediately after someone shares a file or folder with you. Instead of relying on email, the updated apps will display notifications when something has been shared with you, allowing you to go straight to the file or folder that’s been shared. Lastly, anyone can now preview documents, even if they do not have a Google account, as long as they are on an Android device.

Speaking of which, Android users will soon be able to request access to files with a single tap. The notifications will only come if you have chosen to receive Drive notifications, so they won’t be too pervasive and the option will be offered to turn them off in settings will be offered when users first load the updated Drive app. But with the update, the Drive app lets recipients request access with a single tap, and file owners will be notified of the request instantly on the mobile device.
