According to eye witnesses, a woman in a vehicle not involved in the funeral procession saw what she thought was a small break in the line of cars going down a street, and tried to hurriedly break across to the other side.
She was ticketed for failing to yield to a funeral procession and has been ordered to appear in court.
The funeral procession was for Jean Mendez, one of the 49 victims of Sunday morning’s shooting at the Pulse nightclub.
The deputies were taken to the hospital with various injuries, but are expected to survive.
The unidentified woman was not injured in the accident, which occurred about 11:30 a.m., but asked to be checked out at a hospital, Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said. More information will be provided as it becomes available. One of the officers was struck “almost head-on”, Montes said.

“We think it was impatience”, she said.
