One pupil was treated for head injuries, another pupil sustained a broken leg and one teacher has a collarbone injury.

The school statutes were signed by poet John Donne in 1622 and it has a number of famous ex-pupils.

The Belgian federal prosecutor’s office said all of the children survived the crash, but that an adult passenger, later identified as one of the two drivers on the bus, had been killed.

The motorway has been completely close while emergency services deal with the aftermath of the crash.

The company, Richmond Coaches, is from Lisburn, County Antrim.

The driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle and hit a bridge support, causing it to overturn. “A team from the British Embassy is on the ground alongside the Belgian local authorities and are working hard to support the people caught up in this awful incident”.
