A community in Indianapolis is mourning the death of an elementary school principal who was killed Tuesday when she was hit by a bus that jumped a curb outside the school.

The two 10-year-old students were hospitalized in serious but stable condition with what officials said were non-life-threatening injuries, indystar.com reported.
Rita Reith tells Fox News the bus was stationary before the incident at 2:45 p.m. It was part of a line of buses in front of the school.
The female bus driver told firefighters she was not sure what caused the bus to accelerate, Reith said in a statement Tuesday evening.
Amy Beverland is a magnet school that focuses on communications. It wasn’t immediately clear why the bus jumped the curb. “She was here every day, never missed a day of work – just a phenomenal individual that truly cared about children”.
With Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s version of “Over the Rainbow” playing in the background, the video begins with shots of Amy Beverland Elementary School students holding signs with words to describe the beloved educator: Friendly.
“We lost a great educator today”, he said of Jordan.
RTV6 reports that the two kids who were injured were outside of the bus as well as the adult who was killed.
The last act of Susan Jordan’s life appears to have confirmed that.
The Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township will NOT hold classes on Wednesday, January 27.
It closes with a heartfelt message to Jordan: “We love you, Mrs. Jordan!”
