Drogba signals commitment to the Impact
Didier Drogba indicated on Sunday that he will be returning to Major League Soccer’s Montreal Impact, effectively ending speculation that he could be headed back to his former club Chelsea.

He tweeted: “On way to Qatar to do some preparation work for pre-season”.
The Canadian club have spent much of the MLS off-season in limbo with Chelsea looking to bring Drogba back to Stamford Bridge as part of Guus Hiddink’s backroom staff. The Impact qualified for the MLS playoffs, losing to the Columbus Crew in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Montreal Impact will kick off its training camp on Monday at Olympic Stadium. “They would’ve liked to have seen him back with the organization”.
Montreal said it was agreed in Drogba’s contract that he would have a second season in Canada. “I can’t answer that question”. He is to report to camp in Florida in mid-February after a conditioning stint with his personal trainer in Qatar. Saputo had few details of what was said between them.
Drogba remains a fan favourite among Chelsea supporters and was voted the club’s greatest ever player in a poll conducted by their official magazine in 2012.
The 37-year-old Monreal Impact star was tipped to re-join the ranks at Stamford Bridge in a non-playing role following the end of the recent MLS campaign. “He’s got one more year on his contract and I think it’s important to start putting a team together and start looking at who will replace the player in the future”.
