DROID Turbo Android 5.1 update expected later this week

At the same time some new details have emerged revealing the next Verizon Motorola DROID device that could replace the popular DROID Turbo.

The usual suspect, David Schuster sent out an announcement this morning detailing that the AT&T 2nd Gen Moto X had begun its soak testing of Android 5.1.

The leakster claims this is a Verizon device, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the DROID, and could be Motorola’s new bigger smartphone set to hit all carriers, just like the Moto X.

As with any other Android 5.1 update, this one brings more fluid animations, new themes, widgets, and colors as per the Material Design guidelines. Basically, Android 5.1 fixes all the things that were wrong in the previous Android 5.0 builds. Schuster also noted that if everything goes as planned, the long awaited update will go out later this week.

“Thanks for your patience”. Aside from the normal stability improvements and 5.1 features like “interruptions” for deciding which apps can make your phone buzz with notifications, there’s some Motorola-specific stuff in there like the Moto Action that turns the flashlight on and off with two chopping motions. We hope you’re as excited as we are about #Lollipop – coming to a #DROIDTurbo near you.
