Haughwout made news last year when police charged a woman with assault after she confronted him about flying a drone at a state beach.

Police said other officers responded to assist in the apprehension of Haughwout.

The officer later identified him as Haughwout due to the national attention he’d received from his recent drone incidents.

The officer tried to restrain him, and a fight started.

Police said they asked Haughwout to comply with their orders, but he resisted.

He was taken by emergency medical personnel to the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Clinic after throwing up. Once cleared, he returned to the department’s headquarters to be processed.

Haughwout was additionally charged with two counts of assault on an officer and a single count of interfering with an officer. Haughwout was held on a $20,000 bond and was arraigned at Middlesex Superior court Thursday.

Austin Haughwout, an 18-year-old mechanical engineering student from Clinton, Connecticut, was charged with assault and interfering with a police officer, officials said.

Haughwout attempted to drive off, but stopped again after the officer turned on his overhead lights, the warrant said.

When another officer arrived, Haughwout again yelled “do you suspect me of a crime?” and sped off onto Killingworth Turnpike. “Do you suspect me of an infraction?” the warrant says.

Haughwaut told officers he was in the lot to use the library’s Wi-Fi.

An officer approached a vehicle spotted in but the auto backed up and went for the exit, the warrant said. He was stopped by officers in the north bound lane about 300 yards away from the initial stop, police say.

Haughwout had been called to the police department to be charged following the confrontation at the library on Sunday.

Haughwout refused to put his auto in park and began screaming, the warrant says.

After they arrested him, police discovered a hidden phone in his underwear that they believe was used to record the process.

Haughwout earlier this month posted a 14-second video to YouTube showing a four-propeller drone that he had modified to fire a semi-automatic handgun.

The FAA said it was working with Clinton police, who also are investigating.

Police Chief Todd Lawrie said Thursday that the department thus far has been unable to determine any state laws or local ordinances banning such a device, but said, “We’re still looking into it. I don’t think anyone thinks you should be able to attach a handgun to a helicopter”.
