Dropbox Paper is now available to all as an open beta

All of the new features that Dropbox has built into Paper are also available via the mobile apps. It makes it easy to add text, images, and embedded videos from YouTube, Google, or Dropbox itself. It’s a big part of how we’re reimagining the way people work together. And they can create to-do lists and assign tasks on those lists using the @ symbol.

Like the core Dropbox app and Paper’s competitor Evernote, this service is cloud-connected so that your group can meet up in the same document and at the same time, regardless of where you all are or what devices you’re now using.

To use the app you’ll need to link your Dropbox account, and if you have Dropbox installed on your device already and are logged into it, Dropbox Paper Beta will automatically populate your account in the selection field upon opening up the app and attempting to log in.

Since launch, the company says, Dropbox has added in search, desktop and mobile notifications for any changes, and improved tables and image galleries.

Dropbox introduced Paper as its idea of a collaborative workplace about a year ago, think of it as the company’s own Google Docs rival.

Paper is “definitely a cool product”, said Melissa Webster, a program vice president with IDC. It’s up on the Play Store in beta form, and like the primary storage app, it’s free to download and use. And now we’re excited to open up the beta so anyone can sign up – without the waitlist. The associated mobile apps are available in the US from the iOS App Store and Android Play Store, and are coming soon for users in the EU.
