Almeida said: “Drugs are easily available in the educational institutions and police are hand in glove with drug peddlers”.

“.Close watch is maintained to identify security suspects or risky elements in Goa in order to thwart any kind of terror attack or plan to harm or disturb the peace and tranquillity of Goa and other security hazards”, Parsekar said.

In yet another written reply to a question of MLAs – Digambar Kamat, Vijay Sardesai and Atanasio Monserrate – on the report of the House committee on the drug mafia-police nexus, the Chief Minister said that it has been referred to the anti-corruption branch, directorate of vigilance by the home department in September past year for further action in the matter. The BJP legislator from Vasco, Carlos Almeida said, the police turn a blind eye towards sale of narcotics in the port town. I have already spoken to police.

He pointed out that when an accused is arrested under narcotics cases, he is out on bail, and then it takes time for the police to file chargesheet as substance recovered needs to be analysed forensically. “In the last two years, 204 government primary schools were repaired and refurbished, spending Rs 41 crore”, he said. It is being sold openly outside educational institutes. “I suspect that some foreigners who want to stay in Goa get themselves involved in a small case and make provisions to stay on in Goa”, Parsekar said.
