The number of deaths were recorded since July 1, a day after President Rodrigo Duterte assumed the presidency on June 30.

The Philippines has been intensifying its campaign on illegal drugs ever since the Rodrigo Duterte, nicknames as “the Punisher” became the President.
Duterte promised to clean the country up, and easily won the election.
Last week, the United Nations criticized Duterte’s policy. “The fight against corruption will continue for six years maybe”.
The police chief said that around 750 people have been killed during police raids against drug peddlers, with another 1,100 fatalities being investigated.
In the “knock and plead” operations in local neighborhoods, police invite suspected drug users to submit themselves to local authorities for registration.
He said that the statistics would be legitimate.
There we have it, the president was just “hangry”.
Responding to questioning by Sen.
Dela Rosa also noted the efforts of the PNP in cleansing its ranks.
“Because whether we like it or not, that arbitral judgment would be insisted not only by the Philippines but by the whole countries here in Southeast Asia”, the President said. “(That) it would make us move forward insofar as the areas of concern we’d like to pursue with China”.
“We do not want a quarrel”, he told soldiers at an army camp east of Manila.
“I have specifically made a recommendation of people, a short list possible to be appointed as Ambassador to China, and I would leave it to him to make a choice, and make his announcement on who is his choice”, Yasay said. “They’re happy with what the police are doing”.
He said this would be another matter that Manila was following up with Beijing so that the war against drugs will be taken cooperatively by the two countries.
“Unless proven otherwise, I presume that my men are performing their duties properly”, he said, referring to the ongoing so-called “double barrel” police campaign against drugs.
Almost 2,000 people have been killed since Mr Duterte was sworn into office on June 30 and immediately launched his war on crime, according to the national police chief.
“The war on drugs should not be reduced to killings”.
However, backing for his policies isn’t unanimous, and Sen. Duterte accused De Lima of having an affair with her former married driver.
Dela Rosa also faced grilling from Sen.
Senator Frank Drilon told Reuters that the amount of departures was “dismay” and had “a chilling effect”. CNN could not independently verify the figures the government provided. “The police will ensure, enforce the full force of the law against them”. But I said, it has to be like a soft landing. “We remain positive about and welcome talks with the Philippines”, he added.
As mayor of the southern city of Davao, Roderigo Duterte boasted of the hundreds of suspects there killed by police and vigilantes.

“The United States believes in the rule of law, due process, and respect for universal human rights, and that these principles promote long-term security”, she added.
