Despite competition with the Rugby World Cup and Premier League football, the two games already staged in London this year between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins, and the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs, attracted 83,986 and 84,021 fans respectively – the two highest attendances recorded for an global series game since 2012. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 45 points.

The Chiefs are 2-5 on the season, 2-5 against the spread and 4-3 with the over.

Tight end Eric Ebron said the offense should be more tailored to Stafford’s strengths because “he knows what Matt likes, what Matt likes to do, what Matt wants”. The star wide receiver has 11 catches for 252 yards and two touchdowns in the last two games after scoring once in the previous five.

Uani ‘Unga, who has been having an impressive rookie campaign for the Giants, did not play this week due to a neck injury.

But at 1-6, the Lions are tied for the NFL’s worst record, and their schedule gets tougher the rest of the way, partly because of the split between home and road games. The Lions are averaging just 19.9 points and 346.6 yards per game.

The Detroit Lions have had a recurring problem with unblocked pass rushers this year, and one thing new offensive line coach Ron Prince might do to fix that is simplifying the team’s blocking scheme. The Chiefs have allowed five different receivers 100 yards or more in a game, tied for the most in the league with Atlanta and Baltimore. Matthew Stafford has thrown for 1,866 yards and 12 touchdowns to lead the offense while Calvin Johnson has caught 43 passes for 574 yards and three scores.
