Last night three units of Dublin Fire brigade attended a fire at Basin Street flats in Dublin, which affected the Luas Red line for a time.
Dublin Fire Brigade attend at the Bonfire at Basin St Flats last night. I really enjoy Halloween. “Unfortunately, in the fire brigade, we get to see the damage that’s done both to the environment but unfortunately to individuals”.
Gardaí have reminded people that the sale, possession or use of them fireworks in Ireland is illegal.
“Unfortunately it’s just that time of the year”, he said.
The only exception to these laws is where a “professional” type firework display is authorised under permit, gardaí say.
“Normally young people that get badly burnt or maybe because they are dealing with illegal fireworks, that blow up in their hands and they lose fingers, a few lose limbs”.
Youngsters out trick-or-treating may not heed oncoming traffic and could run out from behind parked cars suddenly.
To prevent trips and falls, children’s costumes should also be checked to make sure they are not too long or have too much loose fabric.
On Friday morning, fire crews again responded at Basin Street and were met with a hail of debris from revellers.
