The Duchess of Cambridge is carrying out her first engagement as Honorary Air Commandant of the Air Cadets, by helping the organisation mark its 75th anniversary.

Kate had worn the same coat in 2014, while attending s a wreath-laying service at the War Memorial in Seymour Square in Blenheim, New Zealand.

The stylish royal wore a powder blue Alexander McQueen coat, blue suede heels and a Lock & Co. hat for the occasion, which included a service at the RAF church, St. Clement Danes, followed by a reception at the Royal Courts of Justice.

Perhaps in a sign of modern-day girl power and for the first time in the unit’s history there is now a female Commandant in Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty, a female ambassador to the RAF Cadets in TV personality Carol Vorderman, and a royal female patron in Kate.

“Her husband is a flier”.

Kate spent her first royal years taking heat for being all image and no substance, yet it’s fair to say that the Duchess has more than made up for her seemingly lazy ways. Her brother-in-law is a pilot.

Ms Vorderman, whose two children are air cadets, told Sky News it is the “most wonderful” organisation. Her father-in-law is a flier and her mum used to work in an airline.

The Duchess of Cambridge was as radiant as ever on Sunday as she stepped out to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Air Cadets.

“Her links to the RAF family are already well-established and her desire to support youth development is well-recognised around the world”.

Prince Philip handed over his role as Honorary Air Commodore-in-Chief, bringing his 63 year association with the Air Training Corps to an end.

In a message in the order of service the Duchess said she was proud to be associated with the cadets. “They do an bad lot for the community where they live and they’re just so happy about it”.
