The Anaheim Ducks have announced that they have acquired goaltender Dustin Tokarski from the Montreal Canadiens and in return they have sent winger Max Friberg to Montreal.

Tokarski, 26, had a 1-3-0 record in six games with the Canadiens this season, along with a 3.19 goals-against average and a. 878 save percentage.

Friberg, five feet 11 inches and 200 pounds, will immediately join the St. John’s IceCaps. According to Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register, Tokarski will report to AHL San Deigo.

Friberg, 23, has played six career National Hockey League games. Some Ducks fans might initially panic at this trade because John Gibson was hurt Wednesday night, so the timing suggests that Gibson’s injury might be serious. Selected by Anaheim in the fifth round (143rd overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Friberg collected 5-12=17 points with two PIM in 25 games with the Gulls this season.

The Ducks could also hang on to Khudobin in case Gibson or Andersen are out for an extended period but they also have Tokarski in place if a goalie is moved.
