Heck, it’s hard trying to picture an National Basteball Association world without Tim Duncan in it. But as each year passes by, we get one step closer to Tim Duncan not being on the court any longer.

Duncan contributed a 13.9-point scoring average in his 18th National Basteball Association season while averaging 9.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.96 blocks per game, which ranked No. 8 in the National Basteball Association.

Tim Duncan on Thursday officially announced that he will be returning to the San Antonio Spurs for another season.

The Spurs’ title defense fell short in a hard-fought first-round series against the Los Angeles Clippers that saw Duncan emerge as the best player on the floor at times.

-Small forward Mike Dunleavy and the Bulls agreed to a three-year, $14.4 million deal to keep the perimeter threat in Chicago and away from circling Eastern Conference rivals. He has been selected to the All-NBA team and All-Defensive team in the same season a record 15 times.

Sprinkled throughout the offseason, however, were hints of a Duncan return.

“Guys just don’t leave there”, one National Basteball Association exec whose team kicked the tires on making a run at Green said about San Antonio.

The Hawks will not give up a player on their current roster in the trade. Last year’s Spurs summer league team, who ended up seeded 12th, won their first two tourney games before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Wizards in a triple overtime thriller.

Arron Afflalo agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract with the New York Knicks.

–The Portland Trail Blazers and All-Star guard Damian Lillard are nearing a maximum five-year contract extension. He is one of 26 players in National Basteball Association history to have at least five National Basteball Association championships. Green is exemplary in both regards, and yet he’ll be paid significantly less over the life of his next deal than other free agents of comparable roles.
