Dwayne Haskins, Keandre Jones commit to Buckeyes

That wasn’t the only recruiting news of the day for Urban Meyer’s program, either.

Haskins wanted to be a Buckeye but with Ohio State focused on four-star quarterback Tristen Wallace, Haskins committed to Maryland, but when Wallace wasn’t going to be in the plans for Ohio State any longer, the interest was renewed.

With two weeks until National Signing Day, Ohio State had a day to remember Monday by hauling in three four-star recruits, including flipping two players from another Big Ten school.

The Buckeyes only had one linebacker in this class with Tuf Borland, and Borland is already enrolled at Ohio State as a mid-year enrollee.

Haskins, the No. 3 ranked drop back quarterback in the country according to Rivals.com and an LSU target since it recently lost highly ranked commitment Feleipe Franks to Florida, withdrew his commitment to Maryland and committed to Ohio State on Monday. Rivals rates Jones, who plays at Good Counsel (Olney, Md.), as a five-star player. The haul bumped the Buckeyes to the top class in the country – at least for now.

Haskins, the nation’s No. 7 pro-style quarterback, was LSU’s No. 1 quarterback priority after losing out on Feleipe Franks to Florida. Haskins had been a driving force in Maryland’s “DMV Movement” with its appeal to players in D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Finally, my dream to attend Ohio State will come true. Haskins isn’t the only Maryland commit to flip to the Buckeyes either, as outside linebacker Keandre Jones joined OSU as well, per 247Sports’ Bill Kurelic. He is the only quarterback Ohio State has been recruiting for this class. However, Fuller has an official visit to MI coming up this weekend and the Wolverines have been really successful recruiting New Jersey prospect.

Most recruiting analysts believe Hardman will end up at Georgia, but Ohio State’s chances of landing the elite prospect have to be trending upward.

Urban Meyer is notorious for his ability to close out recruiting classes with a bang, and this year is proving to be no different.
