Dwayne Johnson to star in Rampage video game adaptation

Directed by Peyton and produced by Flynn, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” and “San Andreas” are both box-office hits. But, again, that’s only if Rampage is anything like San Andreas, which it might not be.

Actor Dwayne The Rock Johnson will be joining hands with his 2015 film San Andreas director Brad Peyton for the film adaptation of the classic video game Rampage. Non-Stop co-writer Ryan Engle has come up with a way to turn that into a film, though exactly what the story will be remains a closely guarded secret. The latter film has tallied over $460 million at the global box office in just under two months, making it the most successful original blockbuster of the summer.

The Hollywood star’s winter schedule may also be filled if HBO produces a second season of his hit TV series “Ballers” which has been showing increasing ratings, the news site added.

News of this project first broke a few weeks back, with Johnson signing up for the movie take on the 1986 videogame (although it had been talked about for a few years before).

Rampage will reportedly shoot after Johnson completes work on Furious 8, which is set for a release on April 14, 2017.

This is another monster movie in production, following Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim, Deadline reports that we can expect Johnson going up against the three creatures as they smash their way through cities.

Director Seth Gordon is now negotiating with Paramount Pictures to direct the movie with Johnson in it. The plot of which may take on a more comedic path, the news site added.
