I just looked at it like, man, you just never know if you will ever make it back to this moment.

“We’d like to make sure he plays more games and is more healthy this year because he’s a huge part of what we’re doing”.

Howard hurt his left knee in the first quarter of Game 1 of that series when his then-teammate Josh Smith crashed into his knee. He played in the remaining three games of the conference finals, averaging 14.4 points and 14.4 rebounds for the series. Having only played a minimal amount of minutes during last year’s regular season, Capela demonstrated his potential during the Rockets 2015 playoff run, after being called upon to play valuable minutes behind Howard.

According to Howard, in an interview with SportsRadio 610, he revealed that he was suffering from a torn MCL and meniscus during their series against the Warriors.

Howard was reportedly told by team doctors that the knee injury didn’t require offseason surgery because the tears weren’t too severe so he just rested it.

The question now is if Howard is fully healed. Either way, he’d be on the pine for a few weeks, perhaps a month.

Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard went on a radio show Thursday night and acknowledged that his knee injury last season was much worse than what people thought. Prior to that campaign he’d missed 35 career games in total, spread out over ten seasons of constant banging.

That doesn’t mean he can’t act as a tipping point on a championship team, playing at an All-Star level.
