Dwight Yorke keen to replace Tim Sherwood as Aston Villa manager
He spent three years in charge at Lyon and led them to the French Cup in 2012, having previously won the Premier League in 1998 as a player with the Gunners.

Sacked Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood says he will never forget the moment he led the team out at Wembley for the FA Cup final against Arsenal.
There is no doubt from those comments that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger rates the man heavily linked with Aston Villa quite highly.
Wenger’s aforementioned take on Garde’s work with youth players has a few relevance for the Birmingham club.
Similarly to Brendan Rodgers, who also released a statement through the LMA following his sacking from Liverpool earlier this month, Sherwood ended by wishing the club luck in the future, saying “I wish the club all the best for the rest of the season and indeed for the future”.
Villa’s defence has been their main area of concern this season, with the club conceding 17 goals in the Premier League, with only five top flight sides conceding a higher amount of goals.
It is believed that despite being a favourite with the bookies the former Leicester boss has not spoken to Villa over their vacant position.
“I think Aston Villa have many other options”, he told Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet. Now fully-fit after a spate of injuries, the right-winger, who can also play as a striker, is arguably one of the best wingers in the Premier League.

With Villa’s next three games firstly dauntingly away at title challenging Spurs then Everton, separated by a home game against Manchester City, everyone associated with the club will be hopeful of the next manager being appointed and introduced to his newly inherited squad before the game against at White Hart Lane on Sky Monday Night Football on 2nd November, kick-off 20:00.
