The Celtics went on a 9-0 run late in the second quarter to take a six-point lead. DeRozan’s solid play had a lot to do with that. But as time goes on this season for the Toronto Raptors, remaining efficient while either Kyle Lowry or DeMar DeRozan rest will become increasingly important.
DeRozan topped 30 points for a third straight contest, only the second time he’s managed that in his career, and remains on a remarkable run.

All-star Miami guard Dwyane Wade overcame a shoulder injury to start Friday against the Toronto Raptors but the Heat were still hurting. Forward Justise Winslow had nine points and eight rebounds for Miami. He’s always had tough-shot-making ability; he just makes them more often. Reserve Troy Daniels had 17 points.
Jimmy Butler led Chicago with 28 points and 14 rebounds.
The Magic were led by Victor Oladipo with 29 points. “[DeMar] DeRozan was terrific last night (34 points) and [Luis] Scola was knocking down threes”. Evan Fournier had 15 points.
Lowry was trying to save a loose ball early in the first quarter and toppled out of bounds.
DALLAS Kevin Durant scored 24 points in the former Texas stars first game in Dallas in nearly two years, and the Oklahoma City Thunder extended their winning streak to a season-best seven games by holding on against the Mavericks.
Everything seemed to be “feeling good” for DeRozan in the third quarter, when he had 18 points to regain the lead for the Raptors.
NOTES: Lowry passed Damon Stoudamire for third place on team’s all-time assist list with his fourth of the game in the first half…. But when he was asked if Thomas was the best scoring point guard in Celtics history, he had an answer. Los Angeles shot 56.6 percent from the field.
It’s the most consecutive wins for any team against the Knicks and their largest margin of defeat this season.
Carmelo Anthony had an impressive outing on Wednesday. New York’s home winning streak ended at six games.
With 2:53 left, Bosh made two of three free throws to reduce Miami’s deficit to 10.
Lowry responded with a 3-pointer.
Houston hit 15 of 44 3-pointers.
With the all-star game at the Air Canada Centre, there are plenty of Raptors fans watching the situation.
The Raptors led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter before the Heat cut the lead to nine in the fourth quarter. He’s extremely athletic, can finish with either hand and shows fantastic body control, even after absorbing contact.
The Celtics are now 10-14 in what the league defines as clutch games (when the score is within five points in the final five minutes).

The Raptors went into Friday night’s game against Miami second in the Eastern standings, leading some to wonder whether Casey might coach the East in Blatt’s absence. Roy Hibbert also had 10 points.
