Dylan Redwine’s father ID’d as person of interest in his murder

The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office says Mark Redwine is a person of interest in the death of his son, Dylan, after the boy’s death was ruled a homicide.

That designation was based on evidence collected, inconsistent statements made by Mark Redwine, and his behavior throughout the investigation according to the Sheriff’s Office news release.

Just this afternoon, they announced that person is Mark Redwine, the father of Dylan Redwine.

Dylan Redwine, 13, went missing on November 19, 2012, a day after arriving at his father’s home for Thanksgiving break. His remains were found along a rugged road near his father’s house months later.

Sheriff’s investigators have searched Mark Redwine’s home at least twice and he has taken a polygraph test with law enforcement. The boy was living with his mother and brother in the Colorado Springs area.

“It’s nearly as if they want Mark Redwine to know what’s happening”, Robinson added. Mark speculated that he was the person of interest days later in an interview with the Denver Post after a former FBI criminal profiler failed to interview him in another sweep of possible suspects.

Earlier this summer, the sheriff’s office identified a person of interest in the case. “I may or may not be that person of interest. I have not been wrong on any of these over the past number of years, and I’m not wrong about this one”. Dylan’s mother Elaine Redwine has gone on national TV accusing Mark Redwine of being involved in her son’s death. Mark Redwine has denied any involvement in Dylan’s death.

Officials also said Wednesday they are planning another search of the Middle Mountain area in early-to-mid- September.

The sheriff’s office is asking that anyone with information about the case call their hotline at 970-382-7511.
