We’re sold. We’d suggest you take a look at the trailer where some rare fans got the chance to play the game a few weeks back.

The article continues below. It has all the charm of a Rare game, and holy shit, it looks lovely too. After boarding their ships, the players unfurled sails, turned rudders, and climbed riggings to move between a series of tropical islands, climbing ashore to explore the new locations.

Danger is ever lurking on the high seas, as you can encounter other players at any time, and choose to engage in naval warfare.

Craig Duncan, Rare’s studio head, made the presentation for the online title, and said that Sea of Thieves is their “most ambitious game yet”, and the player can have “limitless adventures” in the world they have created.
