EA Posts Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Gameplay Footage
While combat was easily avoidable and far from the focus of Mirror’s Edge, Catalyst seems to have intensified its role quite a bit, and will be saturating Faith with opponent numbers that she can’t easily avoid.

Video game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are working hard to put the finishing touches on Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, and the two companies are offering fans of the series two new videos that show off the movement and the combat mechanics.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is all about movement, so getting around is incredibly important. Use the new Shift move and get a short burst of acceleration in any direction. One of the key differences between the two games, though, is that Catalyst does not include the use of guns like its predecessor: in Catalyst, Faith uses her environment to fight. The accompanying video shows Faith and a small group of other runners vaulting, running, rolling, and sliding through a neometropolis. You can also now do a Quickturn move for 90/180 degree turns. Movement itself is paramount to success, with a new Focus Mode letting Faith hone her senses when moving seamlessly for a lengthy period. Drop us a note in the comments section below and let us know your thoughts. When Faith has Focus enemies can’t hit her, but losing Focus makes enemy attacks a greater threat to your health level.

See Focus and Flow in action in EA’s new Combat video. I mean, check out the sweet gameplay footage above and try not to be hyped. It was a parkour action game about a shiny future and a courier who is in the wrong place at the wrong time. The game is due for May 24 and will be available for PS4, Xbox One and on Origin for PC.
