EAEU and China may establish free trade zone – Putin

When elaborating ” a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination”, Putin said the word “comprehensive” means that the two countries are cooperating in nearly all vital areas, and “strategic” demonstrates the prime importance they are attaching to their relationship.

Against the backdrop of sluggish global economic recovery, regional instability, rampant terrorist activities and environmental degradation, Putin said, “coordination between Russian Federation and China on the global stage is itself a stabilizing factor in worldwide affairs”.

The most important task in Russia-China trade now is diversification, particularly boosting bilateral cooperation in high-tech areas, he said, noting that the two sides have taken concrete measures to improve their trade structure.

The three leaders also discussed a transport corridor and other infrastructure projects.

Russia and China have mainly coinciding global stances and will continue to coordinate within platforms such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Russian President Vladimir Putin said Saturday. He said the violence was a disgrace, but added: “I don’t know how 200 fans could hurt several thousand Englishmen”. We have been engaged in very close contacts these years.

Despite the two countries being close trade partners and enjoying high-level political coordination for decades, they are yet to exploit the opportunities in many areas.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been meeting with China’s top leadership following his arrival in Beijing on Saturday.

Last month, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the current state of partnership between Russia and China was the best example of intergovernmental relations.

“I highly appreciate our efforts with President Putin to strengthen bilateral relations in the new era”, the Chinese President said.

Cooperation is also gaining momentum thanks to the Xi-proposed Belt and Road initiative, which aims to pursue common development along ancient trade routes linking Asia with Europe and Africa.

The two countries have also shown great respect for each other, which helps them to overcome differences, said Wang Yiwei, a professor from School of International Studies of China’s Renmin University. “These two agreements have major significance for our relationship”.

Also on June 25, the Russian and Chinese central banks signed a memorandum of understanding on setting up a yuan clearing mechanism in Russia aimed at facilitating cross-border trade and investment.

The agreements were among more than 30 pacts Russian and Chinese companies and regulators signed in Beijing today, most of which were the framework for deals that must now be finalized. Issues of economic cooperation and legislative affairs were on the agenda of those meetings.

“Russia has been stepping up oil exports via Russian-Chinese oil pipeline. We collaborate on environmental issues, and large-scale energy projects, including in nuclear energy”, Putin told Xinhua.
