On Sunday, September 27, representatives from the Eagle Cam confirmed were contacted by CROW in regards to an adult male eagle who was found in North Fort Myers earlier that day.
“Ozzie passed away last night at CROW due to complications from his recent injuries that included multiple severe lacerations and a broken toe in each foot”, the post reads. It was also reported that Ozzie had been entangled in barbwire.
Ozzie and Harriet are said to have begun nesting in the Fort Myers area early in the 1990s.
After completing rehabilitation, he was released back into the wild over the summer. Oz-man is in the great care of CROW and we will work with them over the coming weeks to update everyone on his recovery plan & progress.
Those words will be felt around Lee County and the thousands of followers of the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam, after Ozzie the bald eagle and famed cam star succumbed to his injuries Tuesday night during his second stay at CROW. A rival bald eagle injured Ozzie and he was rushed to the CROW Clinic for medical attention and surgery.
The eagle cam has been operational for about three years, chronicling the lives of the famous birds online for all to see.
