Eagles 29, Browns 10 (final)

Wentz did not look like much of a rookie as he got the ball first and led Philadelphia down the field, capping his first drive as a pro with a ideal 19-yard touchdown pass to WR Jordan Matthews.

The rookie quarterback out of North Dakota State went 4-for-5 for 57 yards and 1 touchdown on his first National Football League drive, helping the Philadelphia Eagles jump to a 7-0 lead Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, en route to a 29-10 win.

Almost flawless start: Wentz’s opening possession was an efficient thing of beauty.

Matthews made up for it, though, hauling in a perfectly placed ball in the left corner of the end zone for a 19-yard TD reception. The No. 2 overall draft pick threw a touchdown pass on the opening drive against the Cleveland Browns. Agholor had a step on the Browns’ defender and Wentz dropped the ball into the tightest window imaginable.

While he had a big punt return, Darren Sproles didn’t have a great game offensively, dropping a couple passes and dropping a handoff.

Fletcher Cox gets his: It didn’t take long for Cox to reward the Eagles’ for their hefty offseason investment in him.

Wentz was expected to be eased into action before the Eagles traded incumbent starter Sam Bradford to Minnesota for a 2017 first-round pick and 2018 fourth-round selection in the wake of Teddy Bridgewater’s season-ending knee injury. Terrelle Pryor made a leaping catch for a 44-yard gain to Philadelphia’s 9. The Browns’ only touchdown came on a 2-yard run from running back Isaiah Crowell in the second quarter. While trying to get around right end, Johnson was swallowed up by Eagles rookie outside linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill for a six-yard loss. And Wentz’s statistics would have been even more impressive on Sunday, but at least five of his passes were dropped. Wentz, who missed most of the preseason and a good chunk of training camp with a cracked rib, looked like a seasoned veteran.

Today’s Philadelphia Eagles vs Cleveland Browns football game will have a start time schedule of 1:00pm eastern time and airs on TV channel CBS in some markets.

The Browns just looked straight up terrible on this snap to new starting quarterback Robert Griffin III.

RG3 plans to play against Baltimore despite suffering a sprained left shoulder late in the fourth quarter.

The referee on the right side of your screen was correct: The 46-yard kick was no good.

Wentz was 4 of 5 for 57 yards on the possession, while Pederson’s diverse play-calling kept Cleveland’s unproven defense off kilter.
