Eagles’ Carson Wentz works on deep throws in practice

Thus, Eagles fans have to be asking the question: what exactly is Philadelphia doing with Daniel? The Eagles paid him to get to the quarterback, and the road there Sunday, will be a tough one.

The Eagles, on the other hand, were so enamored with Wentz that they gave up the farm to get him, moving up from No. 8 to No. 2 and surrendering their first-round pick in 2017, and second-rounder in 2018 and more.

Shortly after Wentz was drafted, the Eagles made it seem like the young quarterback would spend his rookie season on the bench behind Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel.

Meanwhile, Wentz would sit on the bench.

“The game definitely slowed down for me”, Wentz told Cleveland reporters on a Wednesday conference call, regarding his one and only slice of game action to date.

But they also know Wentz suffered a hairline fracture in his ribs August 11 in the preseason opener, forcing him to sit out the final three exhibition games to let the injury heal. The way Wentz showed that he could extend plays with his legs reminded fans of former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. Bradford had a strong preseason and was set to start. It could be a good sign Wentz being in great physical condition though.

How did Wentz go from third to first?

While the Cleveland Browns had absolutely nothing to do with the trade that sent quarterback Sam Bradford from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Minnesota Vikings, the Browns could come away as the biggest winners from the trade. Before the National Football League draft in April, Daniel signed a three-year contract with the Eagles that’s worth $21 million.

With Bradford gone, it appeared that the Philadelphia Eagles planned to sacrifice the 2016 season. However, reports began to emerge that the Eagles were considering starting Wentz if his injured rib, which caused him to miss the final three games of preseason, had fully healed.

Apparently, the team is going with a different tactic. That feels low. The Eagles defense and special teams should be strong units, and if Carson Wentz can put together a decent rookie season, the Eagles are going to surprise a lot of people.

I question the wisdom of this change of course. I predict that Carson Wentz will throw for 2 touchdowns, 225 yards and 2 interceptions.

There are a few possible explanations for this change of heart. As a solution, they could exchange him for a cheaper replacement who can still serve as a reliable backup to Wentz. Since then, he has been seen on sidelines at practice, studying situations and occasionally throwing lightly.

“Anything like that I’ve got to make sure I handle my job”.

“Everybody feels like this kid is ready to go”, coach Doug Pederson said about Wentz.

By Monday, Wentz had joined the Birds’ first-team offense for the first time, save for a handful of training-camp snap repetitions with center Jason Kelce.

Although numerous players were very supportive of Sam Bradford, the veteran players on the Eagles have all voiced their confidence in Wentz. “I’d like to think I’ve learned from my mistakes, and I’m going to do the best I can to help this team win as many games as possible”.
