Eagles interviewing offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur

Here’s a list of Eagles quarterbacks who have done that: Donovan McNabb, Randall Cunningham, Sonny Jurgensen, Ron Jaworski, Sam Bradford. Unfortunately for Shurmur, none likely will drag that 9-23 record he’d concocted in two seasons as the Cleveland Browns’ head coach into the process.

Days before the game versus the Giants which is Philadelphia’s season closer, Chip Kelly, who was the head coach of the team since 2013, was sacked following a Week 16 defeat to the Washington Redskins that crushed their playoff chances. Bradford is eligible for free agency in March, although the Eagles could place the franchise tag on him for 2016 if they don’t sign him to a long-term contract.

Mariota told the Nashville Tennessean this week that Kelly is a proven victor based on his first two seasons in the NFL.

“I don’t think it has to be a ton of overhaul”, Ryans said. While Eli Manning is a talented quarterback, he does not seem suited to run a Kelly offense.

And was it enough for him to want to come back if there is more coaching-staff upheaval? “Not at all. So we have to increase the talent level and increase the performance level of those we have”.

In the first half, Bradford surpassed the 3,500-yard mark for the season. Mike Mularkey went on to win two of nine games as the interim coach. It was Shurmur who’d coordinated the Rams’ offense when Bradford was the Rookie of the Year.

I would be fine with keeping Shurmur at offensive coordinator and even calling the plays. “But Shurmur would be a good candidate, man. I respect him as a coach”.

One thing is clear: Bradford’s teammates want him back. Running backs coach and longtime fan favorite Duce Staley was interviewed for the job on Friday to the delight of some fans and the chagrin of others. Gase’s work with Jay Cutler and Peyton Manning previously has earned him the reputation to bring the best out of passers under his tutelage, no matter how different the quarterback. Cutler also threw the fewest interceptions over the course of a full season in his career, with 11.

The Giants also have ties with New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport, Payton is “monitoring the situation very closely”. However, according to National Football League insider Jason Cole, not all teams are so impressed with the recently fired Eagles coach. Communication issues with players and management appear to have been part of the reason the Eagles fired Kelly. And maybe both sides will realize that a little more flexibility could help everyone thrive this time around. But McDermott’s hiring would no doubt depend on whom he would pick as his offensive coordinator.
