Eagles Sign QB Aaron Murray To Practice Squad

Doug Pederson must feel a special connection to the reserve quarterbacks he’s worked with. Daniel was the backup quarterback in Kansas City during Murray’s time there and Pederson was the offensive coordinator.

Murray was cut by the Chiefs on September 2, and signed with the Cardinals’ practice squad two days later, where he stayed for eight days.

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed quarterback Aaron Murray to the practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday.

Murray played his college ball at Georgia, and was drafted in the fifth round by the Chiefs in the 2014 NFL Draft.

After trading Sam Bradford and releasing McLeod Bethel-Thompson, the Eagles had only two quarterbacks – starter Carson Wentz and Daniel – on the active roster and practice squad for the first week of the regular season.

The Eagles cut practice squad wide receiver Marcus Johnson in a corresponding move.

Now, he finds a new home with a familiar offense in Philadelphia. But he hasn’t played in an National Football League game. He still holds Southeastern Conference records for career completions (921), passing yards (13,166) and touchdown passes (121). The wide receiver out of Texas went undrafted this offseason and signed with the Eagles in the spring as a free agent.
