On Monday, Malcolm Jenkins and the Eagles agreed to terms on a five-year deal that will keep the safety in Philadelphia through 2020. Jenkins’ new contract is the fifth multi-year deal signed by Eagles in recent weeks, joining tight ends Zach Ertz and Brent Celek, tackle Lane Johnson and defensive end Vinny Curry. He returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown last season against the Patriots for his fifth career defensive score. While Jenkins isn’t homegrown like those four, he’s been vital to the team’s success since he joined as a free agent before the 2014 season.

Jenkins spent his first five seasons with the New Orleans Saints.

Jenkins has become a leader of the Eagles’ defense and was selected to the Pro Bowl last month for the first time in his career. He has started every game in his two years with the team.

With a new coaching staff in place this season, Jenkins’s future was not clear.
