Eagles tackle Peters up in the air for Dolphins game

Peters missed the Cowboys game and considered himself 50-50 for the Dolphins game. Both played well in the Eagles’ overtime win, according to head coach Chip Kelly.

The team’s starting safety did not practice because he’s still going through the NFL’s concussion protocol.

While Jenkins went out, left tackle Jason Peters returned to practice Wednesday.

With Jenkins out, Walter Thurmond and Chris Maragos got first-team safety reps. “I thought Dennis played really well, too”. Kelly said Jenkins “should be back” before Sunday’s game against the Dolphins, but nothing will be definite until the former Ohio State Buckeye is cleared for full contact. Peters has a pinched nerve in his back that is causing him to feel pain in his quad. Chip Kelly fully expects Malcolm to be back for tomorrows practice.

“I don’t think it’s anything that’s going to bother me all year or anything like that”, Peters said.

The only other player to miss Wednesday’s practice was backup safety and special teams player Jerome Couplin with a shoulder injury.

He said he has had two weeks to rest the injury, so he wants to see how he’ll do on the field.

“It was tough missing that one, especially in Dallas where I’m from, ” Peters said after he went through Wednesday’s practice on a limited basis. Linebacker DeMeco Ryans, who has been out with a hamstring injury, is working on the side with trainers.

It’s not known when Jenkins suffered the concussion. He was unable to play in the Cowboys game even after a bye week. Agholor (ankle), Kiko Alonso (knee), Trey Burton (hamstring), Ryan Mathews (groin) and DeMarco Murray (groin) were full participants.
