Eagles waive Paul Turner

The Philadelphia Eagles have begun to craft their 2016 practice squad roster, as they signed five players on Sunday, all of whom were with the team through training camp.

The California Golden Bears saw a few cuts yesterday, but they found their way back onto their practice squads.

They added safety Terrance Brooks, a 2014 third-round pick who got bounced from the Ravens roster on Saturday. The San Diego State product is a nice developmental prospect along an offensive line that is largely devoid of quality youthful depth.

Treggs’ father, Brian Treggs, was a kick returner-receiver who played in two games for the Seahawks in 1992.

His quick transition has allowed him to make the Eagles practice squad despite little experience being the one reeling in passes and not heaving them. Given fifth-round draft pick Wendell Smallwood’s concussion issues this summer, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Marshall elevated to the active roster at some point this season. One of them was undrafted rookie wide receiver Paul Turner. But it was reported that running back Byron Marshall will be one of the players on it. In his junior season, he became the first player in the history of the Pac-12 Conference to surpass the 1,000-yard plateau for both rushing and receiving yards.

The Eagles, however, seem well stocked at safety with starters Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod and backups Jaylen Watkins and Chris Maragos.

Turner became a sentimental favorite of fans and teammates alike to make the squad after a almost flawless preseason in which he led the National Football League with 17 catches.
