Ear Candy: The Beyoncé Show or VMAs?

Pop sensation Beyonce stole the show at the MTV Video Music Awards with a repertoire from her latest album “Lemonade”, in a ceremony that was otherwise panned on social media for seeming to lack direction.

While accepting her award for the top prize, Beyoncé thanked her daughter Blue Ivy and husband, Jay-Z.

Drake presented Rihanna with the Video Vanguard Award on Monday, showing up in a tuxedo after he was absent to receive his own award.

Spears has been hard at work in her Las Vegas residency but took time out for the event, which took place at Madison Square Garden over the weekend. I guess Drake saying he loved Rihanna was cool, but, I don’t know.

“The first time I met Robyn Fenty [Rihanna’s real name] was in 2005″, the 29-year-old said.

We know it has to do with the new “It” couple since the website is appropriately named www.DrakeandRihanna.com… but, unfortunately, we’re hearing it’s all just a well-timed hoax.

“So I was speaking at the Art Institute past year and one kid came up to me and said ‘Three of my friends died and I don’t know if I’m going to be next.’ If you’re seeing people dying next to you you might think, what’s the point? All my adult life, I’ve looked up to her, even though she’s younger than me”, he said as the crowd roared.

Whoa! Earrings worthy of Queen Bey: 116 cts. of colorless diamonds and more than 70 cts. of stones on her hands.

As premiered last night, B-Girl hopped on Eazy’s smash hit “Me, Myself & I”, originally featuring Bebe Rexha. I was introduced to her.

Kanye West, who has often hijacked the live VMA show, presented a new video for his single “Fade“.

He made sure to reference several people whose images appeared in the video, including his former girlfriend Amber Rose, his wife’s ex Ray J and his perennial target, Swift, who was not there.

Drake won best hip hop video for “Hotline Bling” and Calvin Harris won best male video for “This is What You Came For” and electronic video for “How Deep Is Your Love”. David Bowie – who died from cancer earlier this year – received four nominations for “Lazarus” and won best art direction. All told, the 2015 show grossed just shy of 10 million viewers across all of the networks.

This was Britney Spears’ first VMA performance in a decade, and she’s got a long history of creating big moments on the awards show.

Finally, Jimmy Fallon impersonated swimmer Ryan Lochte, making false claims on his musical accomplishments – a reference to the accusation that Lochte filed a false robbery report while in Rio.
