Thankfully the natural disaster with its epicenter near Afghanistan-Tajikistan border hasn’t caused any damage (at least till the time of this report going to press).
Natural disaster felt in the national capital region, which was of 6.2 on the Richter scale.
A moderate intensity quake, measuring 6.5 on the Richter Scale rocked Kashmir, including Srinagar in the wee hours today, forcing people to rush out of their homes in panic in biting cold conditions.
The tremors were also felt in other major cities including Jalalabad, Taloqan, Faiabad and Asadabad.
Initial reports claim that two persons lost their lives in J&K after they suffered heart attacks during last night’s earth quake. “We are gathering information to be absolutely certain”, said a senior officer of the state government.

It is second powerful quake in the region after a 7.5 magnitude tremor on October 26 struck Pakistan and northeastern Afghanistan, killing over 390 people and injuring more than 2500.
