Easier to Navigate in the Dark with Google Maps’ “Night Mode”

While users previously found themselves having to manually dial back the brightness option on their iPhones, lost night-owls and evening commuters will now be treated to darker shades on their Google Maps app as it automatically adjusts to this mode after dark as long as the phone is in turn-by-turn navigation mode.

Google Maps for iOS is available on the App Store.

The switch to a darker schematic color will be working based on your phone’s time, not the luminosity around it. Meaning that Night Mode will not switch itself on when you’re in a darkened room in the afternoon.

The update is nowhere to be seen on Android, while iOS users claim to be rather satisfied with the new update that is said to be functioning properly. Also, a certainty is that Google Maps has always been better seen by consumers and stronger than Apple Maps, when it comes to mapping and public transport directions, despite the fact that Apple Maps has had night mode before the Google app.

The night mode is the biggest new feature and works a little differently than you might expect.

Google Maps for iOS has gotten an update, and this one aims to make life easier for people navigating during the night. Users can’t turn the feature on or off, which may disappoint some.

The newest version of Google will let users label places so they show up on their maps as well as in their search suggestions.

Basically, all that needs to be done is to update your device to the latest version of Google Maps, thus the enhancement will appear precisely when you need it, all in all.
