Police were questioning the wounded man, numerous witnesses and would look at surveillance video to determine who was involved in the dispute, DeSpain said.

All of the people involved in the fight fled after the shooting, police said.

Officers have cleared the mall, looking for a suspect, but at this time no suspect has been located.

A message on the site reads, “the mall is temporarily closed due to a safety concern”.

East Towne Mall is an 840,000-square-foot shopping center at the intersection of East Washington Avenue, Zeier Road and Lien Road.

“It lasted like 3-4 seconds until the gun went off”, he wrote, adding that “they all ran” afterwards.

Others near the site of the shooting posted photos online showing a heavily police presence around the mall.

The mall has since been declared secure by police and reopened to the public.
