Easy choice: Browns CB Haden wants Garrett with No. 1 pick

Twenty-six have failed, who will be the twenty-seventh?

Of the last two quarterbacks selected in the draft by Buffalo, only one remains on the roster, Cardale Jones.

Both quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and A.J. McCarron are the current top backups and both are not expected to start for their respective organization in 2017 National Football League regular-season unless a starter suffered an injury.

Haden, the No. 7 overall pick in 2010, is convinced Garrett can change Cleveland. He struggled with consistency on the field and was surrounded by controversy off. After you get past Garrett, Allen, and Solomon Thomas, there isn’t a lot.

There is more than one way for the Browns to acquire a future franchise quarterback, something they’ve struggled to do for several years. Previous year in 2016 they selected Cody Kessler in the third round. Brown said his team feels “really good about picking at No. 1”, where they are expected to draft Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett.

Garrett appears to be the consensus top player on most draft boards, but there’s a mishmash of prospects in the next tier. Eric Galko of Sporting News is linking Trubisky to the Bills as well. However, is the team?

Brown said that the Browns have no intention of announcing who they will pick No. 1 before the draft or they go on the clock next Thursday night. Some things take time. This is a team that is rather deep into its rebuild program, and top talent is a must.

Previous reports suggested Osweiler likely would be released or traded, but it now seems the Browns may consider keeping him around, if for no reason other than salary. Despite this, the Browns have reportedly shown significant interest in UNC QB Mitch Trubisky, who could step in and fill the QB void that the Browns are desperate to fill. However, there is a good possibility neither will be available by the 12th pick.

The Browns know what they want to do in the draft. Others predict that Chicago may strengthen their secondary with players like safeties Malik Hooker from Ohio State or, Jamal Adams out of LSU. If not, Tight End O.J Howard from Alabama is the move. “Our job is to get decisions right”.

The Browns took Osweiler – and his $16 million guaranteed salary – from Houston in March as part of a trade that also provided a second-round pick in 2018. Garrett is a rare blend of size and speed, and with the Browns struggling on defense for the last decade-plus, he is just the kind of player need to upgrade the unit. Will they even keep the pick?
