Ed Helms and Owen Wilson Look for Their Father in ‘Bastards’ Trailer

You may not know the name Lawrence Sher, but you’ve nearly definitely seen his work.

It remains to be seen who their biological father is. He’s the cinematographer behind the Hangover films, as well as Garden State, Due Date, and the recent War Dogs. Subsequently, the duo set out to find their real father as their mother narrows it down to a list of possible candidates.

Regardless, check out the first Bastards trailer below and see for yourself.

Wilson and Helms’ journey to meet the various men once involved with their mother leads them to Whiplash’s J.K. Simmons, former Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw and Mission Impossible’s Ving Rhames.

This trailer has a lot of fun with overly graphic decisions of Close’s sex appeal, delivered with relish by Bradshaw and Rhames, but I hope their dad turns out to be Simmons.

Owen Wilson and Ed Helms may not be the first actors you’d cast to play brothers, but when you see just what sort of brothers they are, it all makes ideal sense.

The plot of the film, according to IMDB, is, “Upon learning that their mother has been lying to them for years about their allegedly deceased father, two fraternal twin brothers hit the road in order to find him”. Originally scheduled to battle against Disney/Marvel’s Doctor Strange on November 4, Warners gave Bastards some breathing room by moving it to January 27, where it has a better chance of hooking older males.
