“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband”, Abedin wrote in a statement released Monday.

At the time, Abedin stood by her husband, but on Monday she said they were separating.

Considered as one of the closet personal aide to Clinton, Abedin has been in news of late in the aftermath of Clintons email-scandal and release of emails of the former secretary of state.
On Sunday night, the New York Post published a report saying the former New York congressman had allegedly been sexting a new woman. Abedin is wearing her ring as Clinton testifies to Congress about the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attacks.
She insisted to the “Post” that the pair, who continued to send messages until earlier in August, had never met, although he had asked her several times to come to NY.
A source close to Abedin confirmed to ABC News that she and Weiner have been separated but living together for some time.

Ms Abedin, 40, has been at Ms Clinton’s side for two decades.
