Ed Skrein to play evil cyborg in ‘Alita: Battle Angel’
Ed Skrein is closing a deal to join director Robert Rodriguez’s “Alita: Battle Angel”, an adaptation of the manga graphic novels. In the film version, Zapan will be in possession of the powerful Damascus Blade. In addition to Skrein and Haley, the movie will star Rosa Salazar as Alita, and Christoph Waltz in a mentor role as Dr. Dyson Ido. And, earlier this month, Jackie Earle Haley (recently seen in Preacher and filmed in the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower) was cast as what was described as a monstrous cyborg in a villain role that will call for plenty of CG and greenscreen.

James Cameron may still be busy working on the sequels to Avatar, but he’s also finding the time to bring one of his other longtime projects to the big screen, Alita: Battle Angel.
The Alita: Battle Angel cast is now comprised of Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’s Rosa Salazar in the title role, joined by Christopher Waltz as Doctor Dyson and Jackie Earle Haley as an unnamed cyborg. With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial-arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals.
What do you think of Ed Skrein as the Alita: Battle Angel villain?

At long last, Alita: Battle Angel will be ushered in front of the cameras come October, which likely places Rodriguez’s manga-inspired tentpole on course for release in late 2017/early 2018.
