Redmayne spoke to British GQ for their February cover story and revealed that he’s gotten into the habit of paying the rent of struggling actors he’s never even met.

“So I was desperate”, he said.

In the teaser for the full interview, which hits newsstands Thursday, Eddie expressed his gratitude toward his parents for helping him when he was an up-and-coming actor.

“So when I was out of university and out of work for a year, working in a pub, I didn’t pay rent”. He did not have to wait long: he made his professional stage debut as Viola in Twelfth Night in 2002.

As one actor proves he is becoming the master of his craft – a young actress shows she’s Hollywood’s new breakout star.

Over the past couple of years Redmayne has seen tremendous success, winning an Oscar for The Theory of Everything and potentially receiving a nomination for his most recent film, The Danish Girl.

However, now Hannah Bagshawe’s husband is leaving his mark on J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world by starring in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – AKA the prequel to her famed film franchise.
