Edelman lost for season with broken foot

Here’s one vote that says no.

Last night, it was announced that New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman suffered a broken foot.

“I’ll take the touchdown”.

It had looked like the Giants again had New England’s number – just as they did when halted the unbeaten Patriots’ march toward immortality with a Super Bowl win to cap the 2007 season.

“We can’t expect every week to just come out and have things go our way and roll out”, Patriots receiver Matthew Slater said.

Manning threw an apparent 5-yard touchdown pass to Beckham. The team later said a CT scan and MRI at the hospital both came back normal.

The stat sheet won’t show it, but Malcolm Butler did a terrific job all game frustrating star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The refs conferred and signal for a touchdown, but after the mandatory review they ruled that the pass was incomplete. The clock stops here with 2:01 remaining. This is about the Giants, Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin and their continuous crusade to destroy everything the Patriots try to do.

Before we get to that thought, let’s take a look at some of the Giants team grades from their soul crushing defeat at the hands of the Patriots Sunday evening. At worst, it would have run the clock down to the two-minute warning. “He was a key player to their offense especially a guy as quick and talented he is and catch the ball in the middle amongst linebackers and make guys miss, and in the punt return game”.

The win left the Patriots with a four-game lead over the Bills and Jets in the AFC East. The Giants, who have a bye coming up, lead the NFC East by a half game over Philadelphia and Washington. Led by the unflappable Brady, the Patriots stared down the team that has given them so many problems over the last decade, and they simple said, “not this time”.

Brady eventually converted a fourth-and-10 on the series and Gostkowski, the NFL’s leading scorer the last three seasons, sent his winning kick soaring through the uprights. They could have run the ball on first down and I wouldn’t have argued with the decision.

Quarterback Tom Brady completed a pass on a fourth-and-ten play during the final drive which got the ball just within Gostkowski’s range for a dramatic victor. His loss comes a week after running back Dion Lewis was knocked out for the season with a torn ACL; the Patriots have also been shuffling their offensive line to cover for injuries to Sebastian Vollmer, Marcus Cannon, Bryan Stork, Nate Solder and Ryan Wendell. He’s preaching more consistent and tighter coverage with his players this week to keep Brady from getting the ball out as quickly as he did in the first meeting.

Manning, as sharp as ever in the first half, hit Dwayne Harris in the back left corner of the end zone for a 17-10 halftime edge.

The Pats’ kicker Stephen Gostkowski delivered a 54-yard field goal with one second remaining to complete the frantic comeback as they completed a 27-26 win over the Giants at Metlife Stadium.

The Giants should have scored a touchdown there to go up by six.
