Geeta, the deaf-mute Indian woman living in Pakistan, is all set to return home on Monday after both the governments gave final clearances for her journey back, over a decade after she strayed across the border.

“The chief minister asked Geeta how she led her life in Pakistan and how she happened to stray into Pakistan”, a Delhi government official said.
The minister said all the Pakistanis from Edhi Foundation who accompanied Geeta to India would be taken to places of their interest in India and would be treated as “our esteemed guests”.
Geeta also told Swaraj that even as she stayed in Pakistan for so many years, her heart has always been in India.
The young woman was looked after by Bilquis Edhi, the wife of Edhi Foundation founder and philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, in Karachi after she had tried to escape from various shelters in Lahore.
Modi on Monday announced the contribution to the charity after the return of hearing and speech impaired girl Geeta to India. “She recognized one family after we showed her their pictures”. In response to a question regarding the delay in getting Geeta back to India, Swaraj said their party came in power in 2014.
Geeta’s story came to limelight after the release of Salman Khan starer “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” in which the hero unites a girl separated from her Pakistani mother who was visiting India.
“Whether or not the family’s parents are located, Geeta is our daughter. Was truly a delight to spend time with you today”, he added. Geeta was accompanied on the flight by officials from the charity, which has cared for her since she was handed over by authorities after she entered Pakistan in 2003. If the DNA test is inconclusive she will be accommodated at an institution in Indore.

From a household in the eastern state of Bihar that Geeta identified from photos, and afterwards met two other families, at least in Delhi maintained her as their very own.
