Edmonton beats Ottawa to win Grey Cup
“As the Edmonton Eskimos take home the historic cup once more, I think of all the youth who have drawn inspiration from this year’s players, and who dream of one day winning Canadian football’s highest honour”. From that point on the Eskimos have failed to lose a game, own the leagues best record at 14-4, and now face the Ottawa REDBLACKS for the championship. “With the GM we have, the coaching staff we have and the players they’ve brought in, we’ve been built to do this multiple times and it’s on us to make sure that happens”. There are a few others on the one- and six-game injured lists with expiring contracts, too, plus nine practice-roster players who must be either re-signed or let go.

Ottawa’s last appearance in the Grey Cup was 1981 and their last victory still dates back to the 1976 win over Saskatchewan.
We would only need one ref to look at the video, and games would take weeks to play because of all the reviews – but we’d “get it right”.
After another rouge for Ottawa put them up 20-18, the Eskimos got two pass interference calls on back-to-back plays that moved them 65 yards deep into Redblacks territory and Lynch punched it in on third down from the one-yard line.
Reilly earned a Grey Cup ring as a backup with B.C.in 2011. But we weren’t anxious about it. We just said, “It’s time to start playing” and we did. “To come back in the fourth quarter and win the Grey Cup was a credit to this team and to the guys I play with”. “They found ways to make plays and to get us off the field …” “I’ll find out in a couple of days”, he said.
“You could pull tons of positives out of this year”, defensive tackle Keith Shologan said, “but right now all we’re thinking about is we just lost the Grey Cup”. In his first game back he threw for 352 yards three touchdowns en route to a 27-16 win over Calgary. “I got to see him at his lowest point, some points I really wouldn’t see him at again because I know how much of a competitor that he is”.
“Kudos to Edmonton. They made plays and we didn’t and that’s the reason why they won the game”.
“That’s just part of football”, he said. The 103rd Grey Cup in Winnipeg was watched by 9.7 million or almost 30% of everyone in Canada, according to the preliminary data from Numeris.
With the Redblacks leading 13-3 in the first quarter, Henry Burris had an open target behind the Eskimos’ defensive secondary, but the ball slipped from his hand as he threw it and the wobbling pass was easily intercepted by Patrick Watkins.
Edmonton won their final 10 games of the year, many of them by close scores, but Grymes said that was no fluke.

Five plays later, the Eskimos were in the end-z0ne for their first touchdown on a 23-yard pass from Mike Reilly to Adarius Bowman, who got behind Redblacks halfback Brandyn Thompson.
