As at 4 pm, activities at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, venue of the delegate election was still at very low ebb as non of the election committee members, led by Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Masari, has arrived.
He noted that with the conclusion of the primaries a new phase that would define the future had commenced.
He said that together the aspirants could and would make Edo and Nigeria better.
He said: “For those who are not lucky to be the flag bearer this time around, they should get ready; four years in the life of a nation is so small, even in the life of an individual”.
“As you are aware, the party sets the rules in the primaries, so our job is to follow the rules as set”.
Obaseki floored 11 other candidates, including Pius Odubu, deputy governor of the state to pick the keenly contested ticket.
Others are Maj-Gen Charles Airhiavbere (retd.), Ken Imasuagbon, Peter Esele, Tina Agbarha, Blessing Agbomere, Emmanuel Arigbe-Osula, Professor Ebegue Amadasun and Austin Emuan..
Sorting of votes started at 10:40 p.m. and ended at about 2:15 a.m.
The primarily election was not without some drama as two of the aspirants, Kenneth Imansuangbon and Chris Ogiemwonyi, stormed out of the venue, while sorting of votes was ongoing.

“Whoever emerges victor in the delegate election will need the other aspirants’ support to face candidates of other parties, hence, no loser at the end of the day”, Masari said.
